Living Well @ Work

Do you have the appropriate drug and alcohol policies in place? Would some free HR support help?

Over the past year, our community has told us of the meaningful role employment plays in helping people with their recovery. That's why this week we hosted a business breakfast in Wangaratta to talk with employers about problematic drug and alcohol use in the workplace.

Our guest speaker was Linda Griffiths-Brown from Total HRM in Albury-Wodonga. Linda shared stories from her twenty-five years of experience in business and consulting, including executive and management roles in mining, energy, government and transportation. She provided advice about employer obligations and employee rights when it comes to problematic drug use at work and talked with us about ways to best support employees.

As part of our project, Wangaratta businesses concerned about problematic drug and alcohol in their workplace, or those keen to check their policies and procedures are up to scratch, can access an hour's confidential support from Linda at no cost. Call 1800 868 254 to register your appointment.

Out event was made possible thanks to support from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, Rural City of Wangaratta and Department of Justice and Community Safety Victoria.

Since 2015 the Wangaratta Local Drug Action Team has been working with its community to improve awareness of the facts and issues surrounding drug use.
